Biennial - 2012 - Thailand

Thailand will be the venue for the 2012 Biennial.

A Constitutional monarchy, Thailand has a tropical monsoon climate and covers an area of 513,115 sq. km. (198,114 sq. mi.) Thailand is equivalent to the size of France, or slightly smaller than Texas.
The country is divided into a densely populated central plain; northeastern plateau; mountain range in the west; and the southern isthmus which joins the land mass with Malaysia.

COST per person - TO BE CONFIRMED - includes accomodation, transportation including airport transfers as well as all meals as indicated below. Pre- and Post-trip not included.

- Arrive Bangkok ( Suvannaphum Airport )
- Dinner in Bangkok ( Welcome dinner)

Day II : Wed. Sep.12, 2012
08.00 a.m. - Breakfast at hotel
09.00 a.m.- Leave Hotel
10.30 a.m. - Arrive at Private Palm Garden
12.00 a.m. - Lunch at NanNam Restaurant-Pakchong
01.00 p.m. – Leave to visit Khao Yai National Park (One- hour bus)-See Pinanga sylvestris and Licuala poonsakii and other Palm species near Kong-kaew waterfall
04.00 p.m. - Leave for Juldis Hotel-Khao Yai.(30 min drive)
06.00p.m. - Dinner at Juldis Hotel.

Day III : Thurs. Sep. 13,2012
07.30 a.m. - Breakfast at hotel
08.30 a.m. - Leave for Corypha utan wild populations
12.00 a.m. - Lunch at Nong Nooch Garden - Prachinburi
02.00 p.m. - 03.00 p.m. – Tour of Nong Nooch garden
06.00 p.m. - Arrive at Nong Nooch Garden, Pattaya
07.00 p.m.- Sea Food Dinner.

Day IV : Fri Sep. 14,2012
7.00a.m. - Breakfast at NNTBG
08.0 0 a.m. - Start from Orchid house - Palm garden at Thai house - French Garden –Variety garden-cactus garden get into the sight-seeing bus - Nanta conference room for lunch.
12.00 a.m. - Lunch at Nanta building.
01.00 p.m. - By sight-seeing bus go to Palms of the world garden and Cart Cross Arboretum
06.00p.m. - Presentation - to be confirmed
07.30p.m. - Dinner at Nong Nooch.

Day V : Sat. Sep.15,2012

Day VI : Sun. Sep.16,2012
07.00a.m. - Breakfast at NNTBG
08.00 a.m. Start from Cycad Collection Hortus Botanicus Plant collection - get into the sight-seeing bus - Nanta conference room for lunch.
12.00 a.m. - Lunch at Nanta building.
01.00 p.m. - Tour of the garden
06.00p.m. - Presentation - to be confirmed
07.30p.m. - Dinner at Nong Nooch.

Day VII : Mon. Sep.17, 2012
07.30a.m. - Breakfast at NNTBG
09.30a.m. - See Thai cultural show and elephant show.
- Lunch (on your own)
- Free time
06.30p.m. - Farewell Dinner at Nanta lawn.

Day VIII : Tue. Sep.18, 2012
- Leave Thailand
- Or Post Tour to Vietnam.

Wed 5 Sep.,2012 - Leaving from Suvanaphum airport
- By flight to Trang province
(At present, due to flight reductions there is only 1 flight a day in the afternoon)
Evening - check in hotel in Trang
- Dinner in Trang

Thu 6 Sep., 2012
07.00 a.m. - Breakfast at hotel
- To Kuan-Pra National Park to see 16 species of Palms around the Khuan-pra waterfall
- Lunch at the national park
- Leave for Ton Tae waterfall to see more than 10 species of Palms around the waterfall place.
- Leave for Ton Tok waterfall (3 km away) to see Iguanura sp. and several forms of the Arenga caudata complex.
- Leave to see Nypa fruticans /return to hotel
07.30 p.m. - Dinner / in Trang

Fri 7 Sep.,2012
07.00 a.m. - Breakfast at hotel /check out
08.00 a.m. - Leave for Metroxylon sagu in Na Khao sia village and see how to make sagu powder the traditional way.
- Lunch in local restaurant.
- Leave for Krabi.
- On the way to Krabi stop over at Wang Wiset District walk up to the hill to see Maxburretia

- Visit Khao Bang-Pra Kram National Park . To see more than 10 species of Palms incl. Licuala merguensis near the hot springs.
- Lunch at local restaurant.
- Stop along the highway to Phuket, see huge stands of Arenga pinnata and several Calamus species.
- check in hotel in Phuket
07.30p.m. - Dinner in Phuket

Sun 9 Sep, 2012
07.00 a.m. - Breakfast at hotel / check out
- See two endemic and restricted Palms; Kerriodoxa elegans and Pinanga watanaiana at Khao Prataew Park
- Lunch at local restaurant.
- Return to Phuket /Free time
- Dinner ( on your own)

Mon 10 Sep., 2012
07.00 a.m. - Breakfast at hotel /check out
- Lunch at Khao Lak /see Tsunami monument place.
- Leave for Sri Pang-nga national park
- Walk to see palms in nature along the road to Tam Nang waterfall
- Return to Khao Lak and check in
- Dinner at hotel.

Tue 11 Sep., 2012
07.30 a.m. - Breakfast
- Flight Back leave for Bangkok .
